The Salvation Army is our largest charity partner. We’ve been working together to help feed people in need for well over 10 years, making sure foodbanks are well stocked through fundraising, food donations, and partnering on The Foodbank Project.

The Foodbank Project
We’re proud to be a founding partner of The Foodbank Project - New Zealand's only online foodbank. It’s an online grocery store that makes it easy to donate food and other essential items, and is supported by Woolworths online shopping, on a not-for-profit basis.
Through The Foodbank Project website, anyone can choose a food parcel, or a range of ‘most-needed items’, then make a donation that covers the cost of those items. An order is then placed against Woolworths online shopping. The products are supplied at a discount, and delivered for free to a local Salvation Army foodbank.
Food rescue
In our financial year 2025 we donated more than 440,000 kgs of food from our supermarkets, through our food rescue partnership with The Salvation Army. Each of our stores partners with their local Salvation Army to donate unsold, edible, shelf-stable food, to be used in food parcels. Not only does this help communities facing food insecurity, it’s also one of the ways we’re working towards our aim of sending no food waste to landfill.
Annual appeals
Every year we support The Salvation Army with fundraising appeals at 2 of their busiest times—winter and Christmas. Your donations help feed people when they need it most.
