Ending the year on a low: Woolworths New Zealand helps customers save on their holiday groceries
- Woolworths brings new seasonal products into its Low Price programme including whole ham cooked on the bone, some Christmas mince pies and ciabatta loaves to the line-up of household items that will be at the same price for weeks and weeks.
- Other customer favourites will remain on Low Price including 1kg Everyday cheese, Essentials bread, and butter.
- Food inflation begins to ease with some key fruit and vegetable lines like avocados, lettuce and tomatoes now available at lower prices than this time last year, along with selected meat including Woolworths Own Brand 1kg 18% fat New Zealand Beef Mince.
6 December 2023: Woolworths is committed to helping customers stretch their budget further this festive season and has added more seasonal products to its Low Price programme, and will keep other grocery essentials Low Price levels for even longer.
The grocery retailer introduced its new Low Price programme in September and is keeping customer favourites on the programme for summer, along with adding seasonal treats that will bring the number of products on Low Price to over 2000.
Woolworths New Zealand Commercial Director, Pieter De Wet says that Low Price means Kiwis can start planning their Christmas menu today and prices will be the same when they shop for that menu in a couple of weeks.
“It’s really all about giving certainty to New Zealanders, both on their everyday products like cheese, eggs, butter and bread but also on more of those holiday specials like ham, and some of our christmas fruit mince pies.
“We’re also pleased to be seeing signs that food inflation is easing and some of our key meat and produce lines are either the same price as this time last year, or beating inflation and are actually lower than they were in December 2022.
“It’s been a tough year for many New Zealanders and it’s a relief to see we’re ending the year on a different sort of low, with prices getting better and a number of good signs for 2024. We are still seeing challenges with products like kūmara which was heavily impacted by Cyclone Gabrielle but our growers are very hopeful about the next harvest.” says Pieter.
Low Price is in addition to the thousands of weekly specials that Woolworths New Zealand has on offer.
