Apple Crumble

This recipe for Apple Crumble is delicious on its own but even tastier when served with fresh whipped cream or ice cream! Dessert is served!

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoons cinnamon, ground
  • 6 apples, peeled, cored, sliced
  • 1 lemon, zest and juice
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 100 grams butter, cold & finely diced
  • 1/2 cup caster sugar
  • 1 cup plain flour
  • 1 tablespoons cinnamon, ground

Method

  1. Step 1 of 6
    Preheat the oven to 190°C (170°C fan-forced).
  2. Step 2 of 6
    Add the apple slices, lemon zest, juice and 1/4 cup of water into a saucepan. Bring to the boil. Cover and boil gently for 5 minutes.
  3. Step 3 of 6
    Uncover and boil gently a further 5 minutes until the apples are tender. Remove from the heat and drain. Pour the cooked apples into a deep oven proof dish.
  4. Step 4 of 6
    Using a food processor add the butter, flour, sugar, and cinnamon and blitz until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs, or rub the butter into the dry ingredients with your fingertips.
  5. Step 5 of 6
    Spread the butter crumb mixture evenly on top of the apples.
  6. Step 6 of 6
    Place in the oven and bake for about 20 minutes or until well browned and crisp.
