Ingredients

  • 1 packets hot cross buns
  • 1 cup custard
  • 1/4 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1/4 green apple, peeled, cored and sliced thinly
  • 1 tablespoons butter
  • 1 packets hot cross buns

Method

  1. Step 1 of 6
    Preheat the oven to 180°C (160°C fan-forced). Line a loaf tin with baking paper.
  2. Step 2 of 6
    Tear the hot cross buns into 3cm pieces. Place half the pieces tightly into the base of the tin.
  3. Step 3 of 6
    Mix cinnamon and apple together, and spread over the buns. Pour over the custard. Stack in the remaining buns pieces.
  4. Step 4 of 6
    Melt the butter and maple syrup together in a microwave jug.
  5. Step 5 of 6
    Pour the maple syrup mixture over the top of the hot cross buns. Bake for 25 minutes until the top is golden and crispy. Remove and cool.
  6. Step 6 of 6
    Lift the loaf from the tin, place it onto a plate and begin to pull it apart.
