Easy Chocolate Slice with Caramel Easter Eggs

Ingredients

Base

  • 1 cup plain flour
  • 1/2 cup desiccated coconut
  • 125 grams butter, melted
  • 125 grams brown sugar
  • 1/2 tablespoons vanilla essence

Topping

  • 300 grams dark chocolate
  • 1/2 cup fresh cream
  • 10 caramel-filled chocolate eggs, chopped
  • 1/2 cup sliced almonds, roasted

Method

  1. Step 1 of 4
    Preheat oven to 180°C (160°C fan-forced). Line a 20x20cm slice tin with baking paper.
  2. Step 2 of 4
    Mix the base ingredients in a large bowl and tip into the prepared tin. Using the back of a spoon to smooth, evenly press the mixture out onto the tin. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden, then cool.
  3. Step 3 of 4
    For the topping, melt the chocolate with the cream in a small saucepan over a medium heat, whisking until smooth. Cool until warm.
  4. Step 4 of 4
    Pour the chocolate over the base. Sprinkle over the chopped eggs and almonds and press down lightly. Leave to set before slicing.
