Mini Cottage Pies
The comforting classic cottage pie goes mini! Looking for a bite-sized treat, or finger food to share? These are simple and satisfying. The secret shortcut is using ready-made puff pastry for the pie crust.
Ingredients
- 2 sheets puff pastry
- 1/2 onion, chopped
- 1 carrot, grated
- 1 cup passata
- 1 teaspoons mixed herbs
- 2 cups kūmara, mashed
- 1/2 cup grated cheese
- 300 grams lamb mince
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 pinch pepper
- 2 sheets puff pastry
- 1/2 onion, chopped

- 2 cups kūmara, mashed
- 1/2 cup grated cheese
- 300 grams lamb mince
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 pinch pepper
- Step 1 of 5Preheat oven to 200°C.
- Step 2 of 5Cut 12 x 8cm circles from the puff pastry sheets and line a 12-hole muffin tin.
- Step 3 of 5Heat a frying pan to a medium heat. Add the lamb mince, onion and carrot cooking for 10 minutes until lightly browned. Add the passata, herbs, salt and pepper to taste cooking until thickened. Remove and allow to cool.
- Step 4 of 5Spoon the mince into the pastry cases. Top with mashed kūmara and a sprinkle of cheese. Place into the oven for 20 minutes until golden and pastry crispy.
