Watermelon Fruit Straps
Make watermelons last longer than the season with Watermelon Fruit Straps! This simple food hack is an easy way to make watermelon fruit leather at home. Remember to store in an airtight container.
Ingredients
- 1 watermelon, remove the pips
- 2 tablespoons caster sugar
- 1 teaspoons lime zest

- Step 1 of 7Preheat the oven to 140°C (120°C fan-forced). Line a flat tray with baking paper.
- Step 2 of 7Remove the pips from the watermelon. Place the watermelon, sugar and lime zest into a blender. Blitz until smooth.
- Step 3 of 7Line a colander with a handy towel. Pour in the watermelon, leaving it for 20 minutes to drain. Keep the juice to drink or add to a smoothie.
- Step 4 of 7Spread the pulp out in a thin layer on the baking tray and place it into the oven for 1 hour.
- Step 5 of 7Check how it is going, and allow it to continue to cook until it is dry, for up to 1 hour more.
- Step 6 of 7Remove and roll gently with the paper while warm so it doesn't stick. Once cool, remove the paper and roll back up again. Cut into straps.
- Step 7 of 7Store in an airtight container.
