This large Greek olive originates from the region of Kalamata in Greece. It is regarded as the king of olives due to its firm texture and deep sharp flavour. A dark purple colour and bullet shape differentiate it from other Greek black olives. The Kalamata olive is processed with vinegar giving it a very distinct flavour. The different shape and dark colour make it an ideal olive to add colour and flair to an antipasto platter. The unpitted variety ensure the maximum taste is retained.
