Crafted from fruit grown on Gisborne's clay soils, aromas of ripe stone fruit, apple and citrus are layered with vanilla, caramel and toasted oak. Drink now or cellar to 2030. Clones - Mendosa and Clone 95 Chardonnay, Soil type - Makauri Clay Loam, Winemaker - John Thorpe, The Co-Ordinates. Wine making - Grapes gently pressed, with the juice lightly clarified before being guided into French oak barrels for fermentation. There, it rested on fine lees, with thoughtful batonnage bringing texture and quiet complexity. A portion underwent malolactic fermentation, softening the wine and weaving richness through it's natural freshness, resulting in a beautifully poised and expressive Chardonnay.
