Mac’s Gold is the talisman of the Mac’s family, an all malt lager brewed naturally with hints of citrus and sweet malts.
Mac’s Gold is the first, the original, the supreme naturally brewed all malt lager. Unbroken and therefore unfixed since 1983 thanks to its delicate caramel sweetness and crisp, clean aftertaste. Connoisseurs will note that the mid-palate bitterness and hints of citrus have not been tinkered with.
Tasting Notes: The golden hue of Mac’s Gold comes from Crystal malt, a malted barley that has been caramelised during the malting process. This produces a darker, more flavoursome malt. The sweetness from the malt is balanced out by Pacific Jade Hops and light, fruity character is produced by the Mac’s yeast.
History: Terry McCashin began making the Mac’s naturally brewed beer in 1981 at the old Rochdale cider factory in Nelson. Today even though Terry’s moved on, we remain determined to keep his combination of quality and ingenuity alive.
