How to make coffee with a plunger
Pre-heat the coffee plunger
Preheat your coffee plunger by filling it with very hot water while you're waiting for your coffee-making water to heat. This will help the plunger maintain its temperature while brewing and give you better-tasting coffee.
Pick your coffee and scoop
Pick your fresh ground coffee and scoop the required amount into the plunger. A good ratio is one heaped tablespoon per cup (or 6gm coffee per 100ml of water), but you can add more or less depending on your tastes.
Add hot, not quite boiling water
Fill your plunger with hot water. You’ll want about 100ml of water for every tablespoon of coffee. Remember to make sure it’s just hot and not boiling because your coffee will burn and taste bitter.
Gently stir, plunge & drink
Stir your coffee and water gently with a tablespoon, then cover the plunger and let it brew. 3 minutes are perfect for a tasty cup, and 6 minutes for a stronger brew. Pour immediately and drink!
